SALT LAKE CITY – Kidnapping survivor Elizabeth Smart says poography led to her captor raping her more than he already did in the nine months she was held.
Smart made the remarks in a video posted Friday by Fight the New Drug, an anti-poography advocacy group.
Smart, who was taken from her Salt Lake City home in 2002 at the age of 14, recounts how Brian David Mitchell showed her magazines containing hardcore poography.
She says he then wanted to mimic what he saw.
Smart says she cannot say that looking at poography caused Mitchell to kidnap her but that "poography made my living hell worse."
Smart describes herself as an advocate against abuse and poography.
She has a book on self-empowerment scheduled for release in spring 2017. latest news...

Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdogan blamed the Islamic State Sunday for the bombing of an outdoor wedding party that killed 50 people and wounded 94 others.
Saturday’s attack in Gaziantep, near Syria’s border, appeared to be a suicide bombing, officials said.
Erdogan said in a statement that ISIS was “the most likely perpetrator of the Gaziantep attack.” He added that there was “absolutely no difference” between ISIS, Kurdish rebels and the movement behind the U.S.-based cleric Fethullah Gulen, calling them terrorists.
Turkey has been the target of attacks in the past year that have been claimed by Kurdish militants linked to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) or were blamed on ISIS. In June, su latest news...

U.S. Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte has admitted he "let my team down" when he falsely claimed that he and three of his USA Swimming teammates were robbed at gunpoint in Rio de Janeiro last week.
In an interview with NBC's Matt Lauer that aired Saturday night, Lochte said he was "taking full responsibility for" the furor that overshadowed the final week of the Summer Games.
Initially, Lochte claimed that he, Feigen, Jack Conger and Gunnar Bentz were robbed at gunpoint by theives posing as police officers early Sunday moing. Local authorities claimed that the swimmers had vandalized a gas station bathroom while intoxicated after attending a party with fellow athletes.
"I over-exaggerated that story," Lochte said. "If I had never done that, we wouldn't be in this mess."

The U.S. women's basketball team won a sixth consecutive Olympic gold medal in dominant fashion, routing Spain 101-72 on Saturday. Taurasi and the Americans played nearly flawless basketball in Rio, and were never challenged. They have won 49 consecutive games in the Olympics with only one of those decided by single digits.
With that kind of sustained success, no one wants to say this is the best women's basketball team ever assembled. They won by nearly 40 points a game, but fell short of the record 102.4 points the 1996 team averaged.

At least 22 people were killed and 94 others were injured Saturday when a bomb exploded at an outdoor wedding in southe Turkey, the provincial goveor's office said.
Gaziantep Province Gov. Ali Yerlikaya said the blast during the wedding in the city of Gaziantep, near the border with Syria, was a terror attack.
A brief statement from the goveor's office said the explosion in the Sahinbey district occurred at 10:50 p.m. (3:50 p.m. ET) The statement condemned the "treacherous" attack, but did not provide further details.
Mehmet Tascioglu, a local joualist, told NTV television that the huge explosion could be heard in many parts of the city.

The editor of the major Louisiana newspaper that urged President Obama to cut short his summer vacation to see the devastating flooding that has damaged roughly 40,000 home said Friday he’s pleased that the president will visit the state.

Growing evidence suggests the recent cyber-attacks on top Democratic Party groups and the possible breach of Clinton Foundation computers are connected to Russian-backed cyber militias, say a former Defense Department official and other security experts.
"This clearly has all indications of a larger strategic intelligence gathering operation," Bob Gourley, a former IT specialist at the Defense Intelligence Agency, told Fox News.
Tom Kellerman, CEO of the next-generation technology group Strategic Cyber Ventures, also thinks the attacks are linked, based on circumstantial evidence such as the sequence of events.
"It's not surprising to me, said Kellerman, arguing that as of last summer 2,600 of Washington’s most influential people and their spouses were targeted by cyber-attacks from Russia in what was called “Operation Pawn Storm."

The Pentagon waed the Syrian govement against carrying out airstrikes near U.S. and allied personnel Friday, one day after attacks caused the U.S. to scramble jets to protect special operations forces.
Navy Capt. Jeff Davis said the U.S. has increased combat air patrols in that area and has waed Syria that America will defend coalition troops. He also said he believes this is the first time the U.S. has scrambled aircraft in response to an incident like this involving Syrian govement bombings.
"We view instances that place coalition personnel at risk with the utmost seriousness, and we do have the inherent right of self-defense," Davis said.

One of four U.S. Olympic swimmers who were part of a now-infamous incident at a Rio de Janeiro gas station said Friday that he never lied about being robbed.
In a statement, Gunnar Bentz said that he and teammates Ryan Lochte, James Feigen, and Jack Conger had guns drawn on them by two security guards after the swimmers "foolishly relieved ourselves" behind the gas station after a night partying with fellow athletes.
"The first security guard held a badge to me and drew his handgun," Bentz said, adding that he yelled at two teammates who were walking away to come back. "Then the second guard drew his weapon and both guards pointed their guns at us and yelled at us to sit on a nearby sidewalk."

WASHINGTON – The former Navy SEAL who wrote a book about his role in the raid that killed Usama bin Laden will pay the govement more than $6.6 million for violating non-disclosure agreements and publishing without getting the document cleared by the Defense Department, according to federal court documents.
Matt Bissonnette, who wrote "No Easy Day" under the pseudonym Mark Owen, will give the U.S. govement all profits and royalties from the book or movie rights. The proceeds already total more than $6.6 million. He will have four years to pay the bulk of that.
The payments were outlined in settlement documents filed in U.S. District Court in Virginia.
According to the settlement, Bissonnette also has 30 days to pay $100,000 from the proceeds of presentations he gave using slides that were not approved by the department.

Donald Trump landed Friday in flood-ravaged Louisiana Friday, where he consoled homeowners and toured devastated communities, telling one homeowner he is "going to rebuild."
The Republican presidential nominee, with running mate Mike Pence at his side, stopped at the home of Jimmy and Olive Gordan in Denham Springs, where the couple was still sweeping out floodwaters from their home. The State Department admitted Thursday it postponed a $400 million payment to Iran in January until a group of Americans held in the country was released -- but not all media outlets apparently saw it as a top story.
State Department spokesman John Kirby said Thursday that the negotiations to retu the money – originally from a 1979 failed military equipment deal made between Iran and the U.S. – were conducted separately from negotiations to free the four prisoners.
However, Kirby also said that the U.S. withheld the cash delivery until Iran made good on its promise to release the prisoners on January 17.
The story was given prominence on most news sites and in newspapers. The New York Times, for example, put the story on its front page.

It's relatively common to find debris from rocket launches in the waters off Cape Canaveral in Florida, but divers exploring the seabed recently uncovered artifacts from an age of exploration long before America's space program: 22 cannons and a marble monument in what they think are three 16th-century Spanish shipwrecks.
The finds include three oate bronze cannons — two that are 10 feet long and one that is 7 feet long — and the marble monument, engraved with the coat of arms of the king of France, which has been identified from the manifest of a 1562 expedition to Florida by the French navigator and colonialist Jean Ribault.

James (JJ) Hurtado, 14, was found dead in a remote area near Hermiston, Oregon, Thursday.
HERMISTON, Ore. – Two Oregon high school wrestling coaches are dead in an apparent murder-suicide and the body of a teenager who was last seen alive with one of them was also found, authorities said.
Kenneth Valdez, 45, was killed in a bedroom Thursday moing at his home in Hermiston, a northcentral Oregon city of about 17,500 near the border with Washington state.
Jason Huston, who volunteered along with Valdez as a wrestling coach at Hermiston High School and was also 45, was found dead in the bedroom from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot.
A 35-year-old woman, not yet identified by police, was also found shot in the same bedroom and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

A federal judge Friday ordered Hillary Clinton to answer questions from a conservative watchdog group about her use of a private email server when she served as secretary of state.
U.S. District Court Judge Emmet G. Sullivan issued the order as part of a lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch. The group had sought to question Clinton under oath and in person, but the judge ruled she would only have to answer questions in writing.
FBI Director James Comey announced last month that the agency would not seek criminal charges against Clinton after an investigation into her email use, although he concluded she been "extremely careless" in her handling of sensitive material.
Judicial Watch's Director of Investigations Chris Farrell said that while they would have preferred to have Clinton answer questions in person, the decision represented a victory for the organization.

Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton reportedly told federal authorities during her questioning over her email practices while at the State Department that former Secretary of State Colin Powell encouraged her to use a private email account.
The New York Times reported Wednesday that Clinton’s revelation is part of the FBI’s notes that were given to Congress on Tuesday about the agency’s questioning in July that led Director James Comey not to pursue criminal charges against her over her use of private emails.
An email exchange emerged from 2009 between Clinton and Powell during the questioning that revealed that she had asked the former secretary of state about his email practices under George W. Bush, a source told The Times. Clinton had already setup her private email server during that time.

The famed Ivy League institution rolled out a series of gender-neutral terms aimed at removing the word “man” and other male-leaning language from official school material.
As first reported Thursday by the conservative campus news outfit The College Fix, Princeton’s Human Resources and Office of Communications issued a four-page memo filled with examples of gender-neutral terminology that must now be used in official school documents, such as:
The word “actress” should be replaced by “actor.”
A “cameraman” must now be called a “camera operator.”
There will be no more references to a “cleaning lady,” but instead an “office cleaner.”
New students are no longer “freshmen” but rather “first-year students.”
